Our recent GALS training took place in three districts Nyamasheke in the western province , Gisagara in the southern province and kirehe district in the Eastern province of Rwanda. This initiative brought together community members to explore the powerful connections of GALS methodology.
SAFE supported by IFAD, intends to keep on promoting the use of GALS in the Rwanda JP RWEE to respond to the need of triggering and consolidating gender changes within household and communities, ensuring sustainability of results of the JP RWEE.

On 18th to 22nd November 2024 Safe staff provided trainings to 139 beneficiaries in total in those three different districts: In Nyamasheke district 48 beneficiaries includes 37 women and 11 men
In kirehe district 39 beneficiaries includes 26 women and 13 men
In Gisagara district 52 beneficiaries includes 35 women and 17 men
The Gender Action Learning System (GALS) methodology has proven to be a transformative tool for promote JP RWEE’s beneficiaries’ behavioural change in their ability to analyse , plan and pursue realistic and sustainable livelihood strategies, bringing about increased gender equality, improved nutrition and better ability to adapt to climate change.





The training session helped them to open –up , where participants explored concepts of fairness and equality between men and women. Facilitators used storytelling, role-playing, and interactive discussions to break down stereotypes and highlight the benefits of shared decision-making in households and communities. Men and women, seated in mixed groups, engaged in open conversations about their roles, challenges, and aspirations, fostering empathy and mutual understandings.
