Narrative description of Project:

The Strengthening women’s diversification of income source through Environmental Friendly Enterprises project was a partnership between OXFAM Rwanda Program and SAFE with an aim to empower rural women’s capacity to diversify income source through environmental friendly enterprises in two districts of Gakenke and Rulindo of the Northern Province.

Description of actual services provided by your staff within the assignment:

The project was trying to contribute to the 2 district DDPs especially on the following identified key priority areas:

1. Improving soil health through the introduction of the concept of fertilizing the soil with secondary and micro nutrients (SMN),

2. Generating employment and income through creation of both on and off farm activities especially to women and youth,

3. Promoting bamboo handcraft and link them to markets,

4. Increasing forest cover and enhance environmental conservation,

5. Diversify energy resources through pig farming for biogas energy generation.
