During the visit of IFAD, the donor, to Rwanda from June 24, 2025 to June 27, 2025, Ms Gozde was a representative of IFAD from Rome/Italy together with IFAD Rwanda JP RWEE focal point Mr. Elvis Blaise NKUNDANYIRAZO, and JP RWEE partners implementing the project in activities funded by IFAD including GALS+ and providing plastic water tanks that are SAFE and CVI.

In this visit SAFE was represented by Mr DUSHIME Didier our program manager and CVI was represented by Mr. GASANGWA Venant.

At the regional level, In the Kirehe district, the team was led by the deputy regional director for economic development.

After being welcomed by the leader who was leading the group, he introduced everyone who was with him.

After that, the visitors say the reason for this trip is to see the beneficiaries trained on GALS +, the changes they have had after the training they received, View the water tanks provided.

After that, the director who received the guests thanked JP RWEE and its partners and implementers  SAFE, CVI, RWARRI and INADES for the good cooperation they have, thanked our donors IFAD for the impactful projects that changes lives of rural communities.

Activities they visited included:

Kitchen garden demonstration plot where the beneficiaries of JP RWEE learn to grow vegetables after everyone goes to grow them at home.

After visiting the demonstration plot, they also visited the beneficiaries at their homes to see how they will grow the vegetables where they visited.

  1. Mukamuhoza Francine from Kirehe district, Gahara cell, Nyakagezi sector, expressed the various other activities GALS has brought to her, including chicken breeding, starting a business, including sewing and being brave in general, and she also feels that she should contribute to the development of their household, not only the husband.

Here is that in the testimony she had given, she had shown before the GALS training that she felt she should be at home, taking care of the housework only for other income, but after she left the training, she talked with her husband and allowed her to go and help him with those jobs, which gave him time to do the jobs he said earns money.

As now she shows her home garden and chicken breeding she also stared that now she has her shop earning money to support her family without forgetting her basic needs as a woman.

2.UWAYISABYE Marie Josée (the same address) showed us the activities she has achieved including a shop, sewing machine and a vegetable farm.

  • Ntamugambumwe Theogene (same address) showed us the field of vegetables and red tomatoes grown at his home.

In general, at Kirehe district, the participants expressed various positive results after receiving the GALS training and the Nutrition and Climate Change training, including:

1. Economic development includes increasing the productivity of what we do, increasing savings

2. Improve nutrition

3. Good family harmonious life

4. Organize decisions at home

5. Work on goals

6. Have a plan at home

In the development of good nutrition, they presented a table where the different foods that make up a complete diet and the results of their cultivation.

In the Ngoma district, this group was received by the deputy director for economic development in the district, He also appreciated the role of JP RWEE in the development of the community, but especially those who work with JP RWEE are an advantage.

In Ngoma district they visited UWAMAHORO Jeanette, who is a single mother

She showed us the changes in the development where she showed us the pig breeding project that she has 22 pigs and started with 5 pigs in the month of June 2025 where she has the goal or dream of raising 800 pigs in 5 years.

She showed us the kitchen garden, the money generating activities of sewing knitting clothes using machines and raising chickens in order to improve nutrition.

On behalf of the entire team and the JPRWEE beneficiaries, partner and implementers expressed their deepest gratitude to IFAD for this impactful field visit. Your presence and engagement with the communities have not only encouraged the beneficiaries but have also reinforced the importance of the GALS approach in transforming lives, especially for women and youth.

The stories shared and progress witnessed on entire visit are a true reflection of the power of partnership, commitment, and community empowerment. We thank you for your continued support and belief in the potential of the rural communities we serve.
